Burrenbeo Trust

Burrenbeo Trust is Ireland’s first landscape charity that looks to create future sustainable management of the Burren region.  This is carried out through education, information provision, research, advocacy and active conservation.

The support from the JP McManus Benevolent Fund:

  • Assisted with the development of the Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers, which has now 290 volunteers registered with group;
  • Enabled the up-skilling and training of the volunteers so that they are better equipped to carry out active conservation in species monitoring, invasive species control, first aid, archaeological digs, litter control, stone wall building and more;
  • Helped to facilitate schools access to conservation education, which is a programme to run within the schools including a visit to the Burren.
