Cliona’s Foundation
Cliona’s Foundation provides financial assistance for non-medical expenses to families with critically ill children all over Ireland. Since its launch, the Foundation has helped more than 285 families and raised in excess of € 1,000,000.00. The intimate understanding of the stress brought upon these families by the founder’s Brendan and Terry explains the diversity of expenses covered by Cliona’s Foundation – from rent, food, utility bills to transportation for treatments and therapies, to a treat for a sibling and even covering the cost of a child’s funeral.
Cliona’s Foundation receives no state funding whatsoever and relies entirely on fundraisers and events to support the many families who contact Cliona’s Foundation each year. Cliona’s Foundation had been operating from offices donated by CUBE Printing Company, which had also assumed the overhead costs.
The support from the JP McManus Benevolent Fund has:
- Enabled the Foundation to move to its own space and to a larger facility as the Charity had outgrown the offices at the CUBE premises;
Enabled the Foundation to make donations to all of the families that were nominated for funding. With a deep understanding and insight into the ordeal for families with sick children, Cliona’s Foundation know how much this funding has helped to alleviate the stress of dealing with non-medical day to day expenses incurred while looking after a sick child.
